today we had dinner at a family member's house. it was a pretty simple meal: baked chicken, rice, and (overcooked) green veggies.
my daughter--who loves flavorful and spicy foods--kept pouring salt on her meat and adding butter to her rice. two of the adults (including the one who cooked) fussed at my daughter for using too much salt and butter on her food. my daughter gave me a sideways glance then rolled her eyes.
after dinner, we had cake and ice cream for dessert. some people had two helpings.
after we left, my daughter said the meat was tasteless and the rice was dry. she was almost right. but it was nice for me, that i didn't have to cook today.
