344: no honey at walmart?

i guess they still sell honey at walmart...

maybe i couldn't find it because i was dog tired? dunno.

i did see several varieties of tuna but decided to leave it on the shelf. i was not about to pay almost $2 a can just cuz i want the low sodium variety.

so i'll be out again one day this week, probably friday because i don't plan to leave the house again until then. i'm tired.

that will be a trip to trader joe's cuz they are: a. in the neighborhood; b. their tuna is reasonably priced; and c. they have water too. which i forgot.

today's list:

  1. e-mail the document to the client's other service provider (who did indeed call me yesterday while i was out)
  2. call the client (who called late yesterday afternoon, while i was passed out in exhaustion)
  3. call my daddy to make sure he wasn't swept away in a tornado. (yes, i forgot to call yesterday.)
  4. continue the search for the info daddy needs. (so i can print, re-type/copy-and-paste, mail to him.)
  5. order baby bliss's end-of-grade tests.
  6. continue end-of-year review items with baby bliss.
  7. make lists for baby bliss's upcoming b'day party.
  8. start lists for impending trip home for family reunion.
  9. start lists for our soon-to-be-upcoming vacation.

i'll get to it later this week (still on my list from days/weeks/months ago):

  1. need to pay #1 auntie for location rental.
  2. find baby bliss a new swim suit or 2.
  3. post office so baby bliss can mail a birthday card to a friend back home (and i can check my p.o. box again).
  4. post video of ducks in the pool on the blog.
  5. finish a scarf i crocheted for a friend; mail to her.
  6. file the papers on my office floor.
  7. fix #1 auntie's earrings and return to her ASAP.
  8. finish altering a pair of pants i turned into a skirt (by adding inserts to the Vs created when i took the middle seams out; i'll be doing at least 2 more pair of pants after i see how this item turns out. the pants had gotten a bit tight in the cabooty but fit quite nice and comfy once transformed into a skirt.)
  9. continue crocheting the belt i started for my cousin's sister-in-law.
  10. move unpacked boxes to my office (so my living room will be semi-cleaner when the kin folk swarm on party/mother's day weekend).
  11. find/order/buy a replacement charger for mr. bliss's cordless drill so he can put a curtain rod over the living room window. (before the swarming commences.)

343: i woke up this morning singing...

...God is so good!

i woke up this morning singing...

God is so good!

my God is so good to me!

the drama (read here) is over.

thank you God, thank you God, thank you God!

the good: a few minor changes in his favor, great big ones in mine.

the sad: this "us vs. them" mentality that has taken the forefront.

the ugly: i want to snap a few necks. (but i know this feeling will pass upon receipt of that first new-and-improved child support check.) and although my tongue has been known to cause heart palpitations, for baby bliss's sake, momma shall put on her "lady" face.

because The Other has told baby bliss he will be at her birthday party with The Other Two in tow.
after all the drama... cuz somebody thought it would be a grand idea to forcibly remove baby bliss from the warm cocoon of momma love she has known since birth.

this whole mess has shown me an example of something i already knew: a college-education, six-figure job, and residing in an exclusive neighborhood, cannot save one from the stigma known as being ghetto.

having said all of the above, when i see The Others, i will exchange cordial hellos and then go about the business of minding mine with the invited guests until time to say good bye.

because i'm grateful.

amen.

.

342: water, sugar, milk, tuna, sardines, honey

that's part of my shopping list for walmart today.

i aven't been to sleep yet so i'll get a few zzzzzzz's then we'll be up and out of here.

i also have to:

  1. call the IRS automated number/check their website re receipt of our taxes.
  2. add some items to the online bill pay.
  3. find the info daddy needs. print, re-type/copy-and-paste, mail to him.
  4. return some items.
  5. find baby bliss a new swim suit or 2.
  6. hit the post office so baby bliss can mail a birthday card to a friend back home (and i can check my p.o. box).
  7. take stuff back to the library.
  8. call my daddy to make sure he wasn't swept away in a tornado yesterday (seriously).
  9. make lists for baby bliss's upcoming b'day party.
  10. start lists for impending trip home for family reunion.
  11. start lists for our soon-to-be-upcoming vacation.
  12. fix #1 auntie's earrings and return to her ASAP.
  13. wonder if a service provider i'm collaborating with on behalf of my client will call while i'm out and about. (since he didn't call when i was sitting home waiting yesterday.)

still on my list from days/weeks/months ago:

  1. finish a scarf i crocheted for a friend
  2. file the papers on my office floor
  3. finish altering a pair of pants i turned into a skirt (by adding inserts to the Vs created when i took the middle seams out; i'll be doing at least 2 more pair of pants after i see how this item turns out. the pants had gotten a bit tight in the cabooty but fit quite nice and comfy once transformed into a skirt.)
  4. continue crocheting the belt i started for my cousin's sister-in-law.
  5. finish unpacking the last few boxes so my living room will be semi-cleaner when the kin folk swarm on mother's day/party weekend.
  6. find/order/buy a replacement charger for mr. bliss's cordless drill so he can put a curtain rod over the living room window. (before the swarming commences.)

341: the trade-in

hey y'all.

being the semi-granola crunchy girl that i am, i bought a hybrid at the end of 2006.

i love it and i feel like i'm doing something positive for the environment and setting a good example for baby bliss too.

however, i am now thinking about trading in my car for one that might be just as gas-efficient and costs a lot less than what i have. so my trade-in might get rid of my car note and (fingers crossed) get me a little cash back as well.

but i've gotta do more research first.

and some people are gonna be mad at me *laughing to self* because the new car is a lot smaller than current car.

hmmm...

340: sally?

hey y'all.

i'm trying to remember the name of a scary movie from my childhood. if anyone remembers the name of this movie, pleeeeeeeeeeeeeze tell me.

TIA.

(and if you've read a similar post on my blog ever--cuz i'm having a deja vu kinda moment--please bear with me. repeating myself is a new form of recycling that i'm trying out for Earth Day.)

a woman and her husband moved to an old house. i think she noticed strange movements and sounds (including her name being called) but only when she was home alone.

she had a glimpse of a little rock-looking man with a round head and black eyes while she was in the tub. he attempted to turn the bathroom light off with a wire hanger. if my memory is correct, another one put a big chunk of glass on the floor for her to step on.

when she told hubby about the little rock heads, he all but said she was crazy in that nice, "awww, okay honey" way that men employ when they don't want to be bothered with what they think of as women being hormonal.

so one day hubby goes on a business trip.

and sally (i think that's her name) was put through the wringer. she had a miserable day trying to get away from those little monsters. then those suckers got her.

and in the end you can hear them (sally and the monsters) wondering aloud if anyone else would come along for them to get.

sally assured them that someone would indeed come.

338: party challenged

wellllllllllllllllllllllll,

i found out we can't have baby bliss' party where we originally planned to. that after i gave a flier to our church secretary. LOL

such is life, right?

so now i need to call or e-mail her and tell her to hold off on any announcements, as we'd planned to invite the whole church.

perhaps this is a sign from God that we shouldn't invite the whole church, but just the kids at church . (and their parents of course.)

both the possible new locations are a few miles from us and we'll have to truck everything away from home. mr. bliss is not happy about that.

the alternative is finding one of the party places. definitely not chucky cheese because baby bliss is too old and i didn't like it the last time we were there (for someone else's party).

and maybe we won't have a party this year after all. she's had one every year for the past decade.

337: way-cay-shun

hey y'all.

we've made some new friends in church over the past few months. and sometime this summer we're gonna take a vacation with one of the families.

this will be the first vacation that baby bliss, mr. bliss and i have all taken together. and we're going to (drum roll pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeze):

Disney World!

now truth be told, i'm not an amusement park kinda girl. not any more. but i think baby bliss will really enjoy the experience. mr. bliss is just a big kid at heart any way so i know he'll love it.

336: friday stuff

hey y'all.

today was errand day at chez bliss.

we hit the bank, picked up grandma and went to the "thrit" store. even tho i know i shouldn't have, i bought books. more books, as in "i ain't got no where to put more books."

because i've reached the maximum number of books i can put in my office until i clear all the papers off the floor. and i already have bunches of books waiting to be released from their cardboard prisons.

then grandma treated us to lunch. after lunch we went to one of the

last was the $ store, where i shopped for baby bliss's party. this year we've decided to have a theme party.

335: the best of home schooling

this is how we did it...

today. because the weather was beautiful. (thanks God!)

some days we go to the library. some days we camp on the living room floor. some days we do other things, like go to my grandma's or run errands.

today we watched someone from the grounds crew put something in the pond that turned it from a muddy muddy green to a deep emerald green.

i'm guessing it's non-toxic because there are fish in the pond. big fish.

mr. bliss said they're carp. i dunno but they are big enough to provide at least one night's dinner at chez bliss. there are a few golden orange ones, one that's white with brown and orange spots, and many darker colored ones swimming around.

truthfully, i was tired of looking down at the murky brown water.

baby bliss was the first to notice the guy "dying" the pond. then she watched to make sure no fish were floating belly-up. it was funny to see the green moving through the water. it reminded me of the movie "The 10 Commandments" and how Moses bloodied the waters for the unbelieving Pharoah.

334: when we party, we party hearty

hey y'all.

i'm in party planner mode today.

mr. bliss and i have a wedding anniversary coming up.

in the midst of all the packing and moving, sucking teeth and rolling eyes, fights over toilet paper and toilet seats, and i-told-you-so's over badly thought out purchases (his of course!), we managed to make it to 5 years of (mostly) love and happiness.

for all his faults, he's the hubby i've loved the most.

so i'm planning a little something special for us. God was good enough to give us a friday for this year's anniversary so baby bliss will be spending the night at grandma's.

i'm gonna go to trader joe's for a special menu, which i haven't decided on yet. there won't be any alcohol cuz even tho i indulge in white wine when the moon is blue, mr. bliss doesn't indulge at all.

what ever i get to eat will have to be either easy to cook, something that only needs to be heated up, or something that's already done cuz i'm living proof that throwing down in the kitchen is not an inherited genetic trait. and emeril is not our next door neighbor.

we haven't had our favorites (pizza or hot dogs and beans) in a while but i'm wondering how well those food items might fit in with our late-night plans. (wink, wink)

i only have a few weeks to get this one together. that includes the time i'll need to spend moving the rest of my darned boxes. (that are still stacked on the floor around the dining room/kitchen area.)

* * *

baby bliss has a birthday coming. (now if i already mentioned this, bear with me y'all. sleep deprivation is a memory-sucker.)

she and i were talking about the invite list yesterday. we had about 40 people on the list, including family. today we decided to invite the whole church.

now lest y'all think i have accidentally looped my brains out with my crochet hook, our church is small. i don't know how many actual members there are but i guess we get about 200 on a good sunday.

out of that 200, i know 50 or so, some by name and face, some by face only cuz i can't always remember names. less than half of that 50 have children. but i'm inviting them any way because our parties are family affairs.

so now i have to make my lists so i don't forget anything. then i have to make notes on my MS Works calendar so it can remind me. i'll need it to remind me to start my lists, remind me to finish my lists, remind me to print the lists.

or else.

i'll forget.

.

903.

Happy Friday everyone. I hope you are all healthy and safe. As I said in my previous post, there have been a number of changes chez Bliss. ...
